One of our special locations in Peru is the picturesque village of Yanahuara, which is situated in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Choosing to study Spanish in the Sacred Valley allows you to get away from the hassles of tourism in Cusco and enjoy the tranquility of traditional Peruvian life. Located approximately 60 minutes by bus from Cusco, the village boasts breathtaking views of snowy peaks and conventional houses. The climate is also warmer than Cusco due to the lower altitude at 2,800 meters.
The AMAUTA school and student residence building is large with beautiful gardens on the enclosed grounds. The building is divided into sleeping and study areas. There are lovely big bedrooms, new bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, classrooms, and a lounge room with a pool table – perfect for relaxing and studying.
Studying Spanish in the Sacred Valley puts you in the heart of Incan culture with easy access to some of Peru’s most noted Inca ruins, including Ollantaytambo, Pisac, Chinchero, Moras and Moray. There are numerous pre-Hispanic archaeological ruins, which were built by different Incas and used as citadels or resting places. Studying in the Sacred Valley gives you a chance to visit Inca fortresses, markets, salt flats, cultivated Inca terraces, and much more! Spanish lessons take place in either the morning or late afternoon, allowing time to explore the Sacred Valley by walking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or four wheeling.
A week of Spanish courses in the Sacred Valley includes transportation from Cusco, accommodation, all meals, and Spanish lessons. Participants have spoken so highly of this location that we strongly recommend all students take part in this program.
